Instructions

    • 1

Peel and quarter the Yukon Gold potatoes, length-wise. Set aside.

    • 2

Put the potatoes into the saucepan. Then, add the salt on top. Fill the saucepan up with water until the potatoes are just covered. Bring to boil.

    • 3

Reduce the stove's heat and put the saucepan's lid on, then simmer the potatoes for about 20 minutes. Remove the lid and make sure the potatoes are done. You can tell this by sticking a fork into the potatoes. It should go in smoothly and easily.

    • 4

Place the cream and butter in another smaller saucepan. Melt them together until mixed.

    • 5

Pour the water out of the potato saucepan, and place the potatoes in a bowl. Pour the contents of the other saucepan over the potatoes (the cream and butter). Use the masher to mash everything together until creamy and well mashed.

    • 6

Add the red pepper flakes, then use a larger spoon to beat the potatoes and spice together. Add the milk slowly until the potatoes are the consistency you desire. Add salt and pepper to taste.
