How to Convert 3Gp to MP3

Save

3GP is an audio and video format mainly used to deliver high-quality media playback on 3G-enabled phones. MP3, on the other hand, is a popular audio format mainly used on portable media players and many audio applications. Since 3GP files are not very common, you can convert them to MP3 format and upload them on devices that do not support the 3GP format. Using a converter program makes this process simple.

  • Download and install a free converter program such as Prism. Prism is a multi-platform application that works with both PCs and Macs.

  • Launch your program after it has installed, and click the "Add Files" button located on the top panel. Locate the 3GP file from the location you have it saved on your computer, and import it on the source window of your program.

  • Click the "Play" button on the top panel to preview the input file and make sure it is the right file you want to convert. If it is not, follow the same steps to import another file.

  • Select ".mp3" in the output format window, and click "Encoder options." Select the audio quality settings you want to use, and select "Stereo" for balanced left and right playback. Click "OK" to save the changes.

  • Click "Edit output," and select the folder to save the file to after it has been converted. Click "Convert" to begin the conversion process. The length of the process varies depending on the size of the 3GP file. When it is complete, the file is in MP3 format.
