How to Install a Casement Window
Casement windows are windows that swing out using a window crank, or, sometimes, just a manual push. They are not anymore difficult to install than any other window. The amount of time in which it takes to install depends on the dedication of the installer. Installation time runs from 1 to 2 hours.

1
Make sure that the framed opening corresponds to the window size. The opening should be about one inch bigger than the window from top to bottom and side to side.
-
2
Wrap the opening with 15 pound felt paper. Cut a piece of felt paper about 2 feet wide and as long as the bottom of the window sill. Wrap the felt paper into and over the sill and down the front of the wall. Repeat on the sides and allow the paper to turn the bottom corner and overlap the bottom piece. Do the same on the top and now your window opening is ready for the window.

3
Install the window. Have a helper hold one side while the two of you slide the window into the opening. Center it into the opening allowing the same amount of space on each side of the window. This will help when leveling the window into the opening.

4
Level the window across the bottom sill. If the window is not level, then add wood shims until it becomes level. Attach one wood finish scree into the top right corner of the window.
-
5
Plumb and square the window from side to side. Start with the right side of the window and plumb with the level. Attach another screw into the bottom right of the window. Check that the window is square and that the window opens with any obstructions. If so, then you may attach the left side. If not, re-check that the window is square and plumb from side to side.
