How to Make a Horizon Line in Photoshop

We all want to take the perfect photograph. But there are so many things that can go wrong to spoil an image, from overexposure to a blurred shot. Some problems can be fixed, and some can't. One that can be fixed is a horizon line that is off. This problem occurs when you take a photo and the camera is not level with the horizon line, leaving the horizon line at an angle in the photo, rather than straight across. But this can be easily fixed in Photoshop.

    Instructions

      • 1

Open Photoshop. Then open the image you want to repair.

      • 2

Go to the Tool panel, and select the "Crop" tool. Don't enter any numbers in the Crop tool fields at the top.

      • 3

Click on the image, and drag out a rectangle that (relative to the image) is wide but short. It should be about 80% of the width of the image, and about 20% of the height.

      • 4

Use the corner handles of the selection to rotate and position the selection until the angle of the selection matches the angle of the horizon in the image.

      • 5

Use the side handles to drag out the size of the selection as far as you can within the confines of the image. Hit "Enter". This will slightly crop the corners of the image. The horizon line is now level.
