How to Clean Cloth Lamp Shades
Dust is never in short supply, and it can collect in places we don't often think to look while cleaning the house, like on the lampshade. Daily traffic within the home kicks up unseen dust and dirt, so lampshades, like anything else, need a good cleaning every now and then. Remove the lampshade from the lamp.

Use the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt or dust that has accumulated on the lampshade.

Using dish soap, fill the sink or bathtub with warm, soapy water.

Submerge the lampshade in the water. Use the soft, clean cloth to gently wipe the fabric free of any noticeable stains and to work the soap into the fabric. Remove the lampshade from the water.

Drain the soapy water, and fill the sink with clear warm water.

Submerge the lampshade again to rinse it.

Tie a piece of string to the top of the lampshade at the center, and hang it from the shower curtain rod to dry.

Tips & Warnings
When the lampshade is no longer dripping and only a bit damp, put it back on the lamp and turn the lamp on. The heat from the light bulb will help to dry the shade thoroughly.
