How to Use Depilatories
Depilatory creams use chemicals to remove unwanted body hair. They can be used as a quick way to remove hair on a regular basis. Some people prefer using depilatories over razors to avoid the danger of cuts and razor bumps. Depilatories are not right for everyone. People with sensitive skin may develop skin burns and rashes after using a depilatory. There are many different brands of depilatories on the market, all of which work in a similar manner. Wipe the area on which you are going to use the depilatory with a wet washcloth to remove body oils. Use gentle wiping motions to avoid irritating the skin. Pat the area dry with a clean towel.

Spread a thick layer of the depilatory cream or lotion over the area where you wish to remove hair. Avoid rubbing the depilatory into the skin. Correctly applied, the depilatory should sit on top of the hair.

Leave the depilatory to sit on the hair according to the package directions. Most depilatories take 3 to 10 minutes to work.

Remove the depilatory from the skin using a wet washcloth or a plastic scraper (if one came with the depilatory). Use gentle motions to minimize skin irritation.

Rinse any remaining depilatory product off the skin under fresh warm water, and pat dry with a clean towel.

Tips & Warnings
Test the depilatory on a small area of skin before using it on a larger area. Wait 24 hours to see if skin irritation develops. If irritation develops, do not use the product again.
