Instructions

      A Parade

Why not start your block party off with a kids parade. Let all the kids dress up in homemade costumes and walk through the streets of your neighborhood to kick things off.

      Bean Bag Games

Make the games BIG! A piece of plywood can be painted and turned into a board game. Draw circles on the board in different sizes and give each size a point level. Toss beanbags and add up the points in the circles where the beanbag lands.

Make sure you have little prizes. Coupons from McDonald's for free french fries or homemade coupons that say they get out of doing their chores for one week for winning this game, etc.

The prize doesn't have to be expensive, just fun.

      Relay Race

It doesn't have to be all kid games. Have relay races between the parents and kids or just the parents...have you ever seen grown men racing big wheels?

Get the adults and the children involved in the games.

      Pie Face

Take pieces of bubble gum and put one piece per paper plate, put cool whip over the bubble gum to make a cool whip pie. Make sure the bubble gum piece is in different spots on each plate. If the participants know the gum is in the middle of the plate, then they will know where to find it and that is all the fun.

Have everyone put their hands behind their back and dig in face first into the cool whip until they find the gum and the first person to blow a bubble wins.

A Scavenger hunt are a lot of fun and can keep everyone busy. Try having your own Amazing Race game...each home can be a different 'country' with different clues, etc.

Play family feud...kids vs adults or family vs family

Wheel of Fortune can be played in groups...

Put on a 'gong' show or talent show.

Think about a fun game and make it fun for your block party.

Why not make your party a theme party. You do it for your child's birthday, so why not for your block party? Make the games and other entertainment a part of the theme.

Have a Christmas block party in July. Make all the games have something to do with Christmas, etc.

Entertain at your block party and you will be a big hit!

Tips & Warnings

  • Again, keep it simple until you see what can and can't be done. There is always next year to add to it.

  • Make sure the games are supervised by adults at all times
