Stage your home like a Pro!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Organizational skills
  • your own creativity
  • personal design flair
  • A few hours of your time
  • A few items to add to your decor, flowers, some decorative pieces
  1. Step 1

When staging your home walk outside an look at it from a distance. What do you see? Is the grass cut and green, look at the windows of the home are they clean. Is the front door welcoming. Look at your home like you were going to buy it. Then do the same for the whole house one room at a time. Make sure to open all closets and see how someone looking in would see it.

  2. Step 2

After you have assessed your home choose one room to start with. We like to start from the outside in and make sure that all areas of your outside living space a presentable. Take away all excess lawn toys and clutter. Arrange any deck or patio furniture. Add some floral arrangements or potted plants to outdoor tables.

  3. Step 3

When the outside suites your needs then work your way indoors. Make sure the living room is bright and cheerful. If you are looking to sell your home in the summertime be sure that you take away anything that is very personal too many photos, books, clutter anything that will distract the home buyer from seeing the true beauty of your home. When a potential home buyer sees your home they want to in vision it their own, with their own things in it. Then go through your home and do the same for each room.

Go through all the living spaces in your home. Pay special attention to where children play and their bedrooms. Make sure all toys and games are put away neatly in their closets. If you have to buy some plastic bins to keep them out of the way and store toys if they no longer play with them but still want to keep them. Look at all the walls in the child's room looking out for crayon marks or any ware and tare signs and very simply clean or repair. Make sure all rooms are bright with as much natural sunlight and all beds in the home are made with extra touches of pillows and throws with the colors of summer.

  5. Step 5
    Spa Bathroom

Another room to pay special detail to is your master bathroom. Make it spa like and relaxing. Beautiful white fluffy towels, light colored candles, use colors like white, orange, light green. Make your master bath feel like it is a spa retreat. Little touches of flowers add a very airy summertime feel.

Tips & Warnings
  • If selling your home make sure that it is spic and span clean. If you don't have the time to do so yourself we recommend that you hire a cleaning service to help you out.
  • Make sure the landscaping is lovely to look at.
  • Bring in bright colored flowers to bring the sunshine into your home. Lighten up the shades or curtains to reflect the new season.
  • A few touches make all the difference, beautiful floral arrangements on tables, and a touch of summer with a floral table cloth in the kitchen.
  • If you are putting your home on the market a few touches and some attention to detail can mean the difference between your house selling quickly or sitting on the market for a long time.
  • If you have no plans to sell your home for years to come think of how nice it will be to live with a little more organization and color.
  • Always remember the outside living space is very important to a home buyer.
  • Home buyers will open and look into your closets so be sure they are organized and this would be a great time to donate your winter clothing that you will not wear next season to charity.
  • If staging or organizing your own home seems overwhelming to you and you just don't have the time, hire a professional home stager. The money you spend is sure to come back to you in your selling price. It may even give you more than your asking price.
  • Happy Summer!Staging
