Things You'll Need:
- chicken wire
- 2 wood posts
- 4 tall metal posts
- tin roofing
- electric wire ( optional )
- cement ( optional )
- hammer
- nails ( any size )
- shovel
- lights ( optional )
- ply wood
-
Step 1
First, take the 4 metal posts and place them in the ground in a rectangle shape in any size you want. Now, wrap the chicken wire around the 4 posts.
You need to mound at least 2 inches around the outside and inside of the chicken wire. -
Step 2
Next, place the wooden posts in the ground. You then nail the 2x4 across the wooden posts slightly below the height of the metal posts to make a slope. This will allow rain to fall off the tin roofing. You do the same on the opposite side, you just nail the 2x4 at the same height of the metal posts.
-
Step 3
Now, nail the tin roofing across the 2 2x4s. You can make a door, but It's optional, as long as you have at least 4 inches hanging over the exit area. Now you can get pieces of plywood as long and as tall as the coop and place them loosely against the metal posts.

on 8/24/2009 This seems confusing to me. Would you post some photos of what you are describing? I think that would help me understand it better. I want to build a chicken coop, but have no carpentry experience. Thanks!
