The linger scent and taste of garlic makes it a great natural tick repellent

Not only are ticks a nasty irritation but they can be dangerous for your pets. If your pet is prone to tick problems, one natural way to repel unwanted ticks is with garlic. Now your pet might not be too friendly to the idea of using garlic as tick repellent but it can work. The trick to getting your pet to take the tick repellent is to make it into a biscuit. They will love the flavor and the ticks will hate the garlic.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups of minced garlic
  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • Mixing bowl
  • Oven
  • Cookie Cutter
  • Rolling Pin
  1. Step 1

Heat the chicken or beef broth for this tick repellent recipe until it is warm but not boiling.

  2. Step 2

Stir in dry yeast and let the natural tick repellent dog biscuit mixture sit for two minutes.

  3. Step 3

Slowly stir in all the remaining ingredients, except the flour.

  4. Step 4

    Preheat oven to 350 F.

  5. Step 5

Beat for one minute on medium speed.

  6. Step 6

Slowly add the flour until the natural tick repellent dog biscuit mixture is a thick consistency like you’d use for human biscuits.

  7. Step 7

Lightly flour counter top. Use the rolling pin to roll out the natural tick repellent dog biscuit mixture. It should be about one-fourth an inch thick.

  8. Step 8

Use a cookie cutter to cut the appropriate size natural tick repellent dog biscuits for your dog. Place each of the cut biscuits on the cookie sheet.

  9. Step 9

Bake natural tick repellent dog biscuits for half an hour. Flip over. Bake another 15 minutes.

  10. Step 10

Allow to cool and serve to your dog daily as a treat. The garlic in the natural tick repellent dog biscuit mixture will help to repel ticks off of your dog.
