Things You'll Need

  • cake mix
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • large box instant pudding mix

Instructions

  1. Decide what sort of cake you want to make. A delicious one is chocolate with chocolate pudding mix. You can never go wrong with chocolate! However, you can try other combinations as well, such as lemon cake with lemon pudding mix, or white cake with pistachio pudding mix. The sky is the limit!

  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. This cake recipe will fill up a 12 cup bundt pan or two nine inch cake pans. Whether you're looking for a nice quick bundt cake to take to work or a fancy layer cake, this moist cake recipe is for you!

  3. Simply put the cake mix, sour cream, beat eggs, water, oil and pudding mix in a large bowl and mix until well blended. You can also add
    "mix-ins" such as chocolate chips (I like to add the mini kind, and lots of them!), nuts, toffee chips, etc.

  4. Spray your pan with a spray that includes flour to prevent sticking. Don't be stingy with the spray--give it a good coating! Fill the pan(s) 2/3 of the way with the batter and bake for about 55 minutes in a bundt pan, or 40 or so in round cake pans.

  5. Test cake with a strand of dry spaghetti. Stick it in the cake, and if it doesn't come out all gooey, your cake is ready. This is one of the most important steps when it comes to baking a moist cake. If you overcook your cake, it will lose its moistness rapidly!

  6. Remove cake from oven when done. Allow to cool 10-15 minutes in pan. Gently remove from pan and place on cooling rack. Frost when cool. Bundt cakes are nice with a drizzling of ganache or a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Of course, there are many glazes that you can make as well to further to enhance the flavor of your very moist cake!

  • You do not have to use cake mix in order to benefit from the steps in this article. Try substituting the wet ingredients in this recipe for the wet ingredients in your favorite cake recipe. Also, don't forget to add the pudding!
  • Do not mix the pudding before adding it. Add the dry pudding powder to the cake mix.
  • This is not a cake that you will want to make low-calorie. Go for the gusto and add that sour cream and oil! If your watching calories, just make it for the people at work and watch them gain weight instead.
