Things You'll Need:
- Thermometer
- Bed or couch
- Mug
- Water
- Theraflu
- Freezee pops
- Multi vitamins
-
Step 1
Make sure to get plenty of rest. Even if you have small children you need to take care of, either relax on the couch while they play in the same room, or see if a family member or friend can stop by for a little while so you can take a nap while they entertain the children.
-
Step 2
Centrum - MultivitaminsTake multi vitamins every night. Most people take the vitamins in the morning with breakfast. It's actually better for you to take them at night - gives your body nutrients while you sleep.
Take Centrum, or find a generic brand (ie: Target brand, Walmart brand, etc). -
Step 3
Reduce your fever with acetaminophen. Tylenol or Ibuprofen are great for reducing your fever and helping with body aches.
-
Step 4
Theraflu - Flu & Sore ThroatYour throat/neck glands will swell up really bad and it'll be hard to talk, eat, drink or even breathe. When you get to this point, start drinking Theraflu. I recommend "Flu & Sore Throat" for daytime and "Night time" Theraflu before bed - it'll help you get a good night's rest, instead of waking up almost every hour because it's hard to breathe.
-
Step 5
As soon as you start feeling a little better, don't over do anything. You'll find that you'll still get tired very quickly, and if you lift anything heavy or over work yourself, your left side will start to ache. That means your spleen is enlarging again, and you should take it easy.
-
Step 6
Have some popsicle or freezee pops to cool your throat when it's sore. Drink/eat some hot soup as well. I recommend Mrs. Grass soup.
-
Step 7
Make sure to get plenty of fluids and maintain good nutrition while sick. This will help to recuperate faster from mono.
