This gentle ointment helps to relieve the pain and discomfort of sore nipples caused by breast feeding. It also helps to heal the nipples gently.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 Cup of Calendula Ointment
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Vitamin E Oil
  • 20 Drops of Lavender Oil
  • 10 Drops of Sandalwood Oil
  • 8 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
  • 4 Drops of Chamomile Oil
  1. Step 1

In a double broiler, with the heat set to low, gently warm the calendula ointment and Vitamin E Oil.

  2. Step 2

Once the mixture has been thoroughly combined, remove the mixture from the heat.

  3. Step 3

Drop in the lavender oil, sandalwood oil, tea tree oil and chamomile oil. As you add the oils, stir the mixture together gently with a wooden spoon or a spatula.

  4. Step 4

Pour the mixture into a small glass jar or cosmetics jar. Allow the treatment to cool down until it's at room temperature, then put the lid over the container. Store the mixture in the fridge between uses.

  5. Step 5

To use, gently massage a small amount of the treatment into the sore nipples. I suggest using this treatment at least 30 minutes before breast feeding, to allow the mixture to have time to absorb.
