Make Great Homemade Shampoos

Buying shampoos and conditioners can add up like crazy! With a new and promised to be 'BETTER' formula, it can be enticing for you to try it. You can save hundreds of dollars every year, by just trying out some homemade shampoos. Here are a few to try that work great and smell great!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

You can make the following shampoos easily at home. Use an old clean shampoo bottle, or other similar container to store leftovers in. You can make larger portions of one of these shampoos to store it once you found the one you like the best.

  2. Step 2

A great soothing shampoo for irritated scalp.

    4 Tbsp pure soap flakes
    4 bags chamomile tea
    1 1/2 Tablespoons glycerin
    1 1/2 cups water

Start by bringing the water to a boil and place the tea bags into it.
Allow the bags to steep for about 10 minutes and remove.
Place the soap flakes into the water.
    Then set aside to cool.
    Stir in the glycerin.
    Now blend until well mixed.

    Shampoo as normal.

  3. Step 3

For dry hair try the following.

    2 eggs
    2 ounces mineral water
1 tablespoon either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar (whichever you have)

Whisk the items together until blended well.
Massage into your hair and your scalp well and then rinse out with warm, not hot water.

  4. Step 4

    Herbal shampoo

    7 ounces distilled Spring water
    4 Tablespoons liquid castile soap
    5- 6 Tablespoons of herbs

Now depending on your hair type you will want to use different herbs. Here are a few to choose from for your hair type.

Normal hair types - Rosemary, chamomile, horsetail, red clover, or lavender flower.

Dry hair types - Chamomile, lavender flowers, jojoba oil, crushed orange flowers, comfrey root or leaf, red clover.

Oily hair types - Nettle leaves, rosemary, peppermint leaves, tea tree leaves, lemongrass, orris root, sage.

Dandruff - Nettle, comfrey leaves, peppermint leaves, lemongrass.

Start by boiling the water and placing the herbs into it.
Allow it to steep for about 20 - 30 minutes.
Then strain the water to take out chunks of the herbs. You can also choose to use cheesecloth or a strainer to place the herbs into before placing them into the water.
Add in the liquid castile soap.
    Mix well.
Allow to cool and there you go!
