Things You'll Need:
- Sugar
- water
- Strawberries
- Lemon juice
-
Step 1
To serve 12
1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup water
2 pints strawberries (hulled)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Start by bringing sugar and water to a boil over high heat. When it starts boiling reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook for 1 minute. Then remove the pan from the heat and allow it cool. -
Step 2
Now in a food processor or blender, puree the strawberries until they are almost all the way smooth. Then add in the sugar syrup and the lemon juice and allow it to mix together.
-
Step 3
Next you want to pour the strawberry mixture into a pan. Cover it with aluminum foil and place it into the freezer. Check on it in about 2 - 3 hours. See that it is partially but not all the way frozen. Stir the mixture with a fork and place it back into the freezer. Now you want it to totally freeze about another 3 - 4 hours or overnight.
-
Step 4
When you are ready to serve it, take it out of the freezer and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 10 - 15 minutes to allow it to soften a bit.
-
Step 5
Now using a fork, scrape across the surface of the frozen mixture to loosen it into a texture like snow cones. Spoon the mixture into bowls, cups, or whatever serving dish you are using.
-
Step 6
To add a special touch you can add a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry on the top.
-
Step 7
This dessert is refreshing and perfect since it contains little calories and no fat!
