Coffee filters are not just for making coffee anymore. Used filters can be torn into strips and the coffee and the filter can be added to the compost pile or directly into the garden. Filters are also inexpensive and readily available.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coffee filters
  • Time
  1. Step 1

Use them as a lid to cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave.

  2. Step 2

Use filters to clean windows and mirrors, they are lint-free and leave windows sparkling clean.

  3. Step 3

Place several filters between china dishes to store them.

  4. Step 4

Filters work well as a strainer or sieve. Use them to strain wine if the cork breaks or to strain used cooking oil.

  5. Step 5

Protect pots and pans. Place several coffee filters between pans to protect them from scratching and moisture. This works very well with cast iron pans.

  6. Step 6

Fold a filter and use it to apply shoe polish. They are lint free, and disposable.

  7. Step 7

Wrap them around a sandwich for neater eating. They can soak up drippings from a messy sandwich.

  8. Step 8

Line the bottom of a planter to hold back the soil from falling through the drain hole.

  9. Step 9

Keep ice cream on a stick from dripping. Cut a small hole in the center of the filter, and then put the ice cream stick through the hole.

  10. Step 10

Place several filters under fried foods, bacon, chicken, fries and more.

Tips & Warnings
  • Coffee filters can be purched at the Dollar store for $1.
  • Filters can be recycled in the garden after making coffee.
