Every woman wants to save money on cosmetics. And, all women have purchased cosmetics that just were the wrong color, didn't work out the way we expected, or have just gone out of style (remember that vibrant blue eye shadow?). Instead of buying new beauty products, there are ways to recycle your cosmetics to give them new life.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you've got brightly colored powder eye shadow lying around (who doesn't?), recycle the eyeshadow into an eyeliner simply by dipping a liner brush in water and mixing with the powder. Mix in other eyeshadow colors to get just the shade you want. Sometimes, eyeshadow looks BETTER as liner anyway.

  2. Step 2

For lipsticks that are lying around, purchase a 6 well lipstick holder. Use dental floss to cut off a small portion of each of your unusable lipsticks and fill 5 of the sections with different colors (leave one spot clean so you can use it to mix colors). Add in at least one beige lipstick to use as a mixer to tone louder colors down. Mix the lipsticks together in the empty spot until you find a shade that works. I promise - you will!

  3. Step 3
No reason to throw old makeup out - recycle it!

For bright pink or peach lipsticks, apply these lightly to your cheeks as a very light blush. Blend in very well and make sure to fade the color out so there's no distinctive line. Follow up by dusting the area with a light powder to set the new blush and you're ready to go!

  4. Step 4

If your normal foundation is too light for your tan summer skin, try mixing in a bit of bronzing gel to slightly darken the makeup so it will match your new tan. Make sure to cover your neck and blend well so you don't get that dreaded jaw line.

Tips & Warnings
  • As you age, less makeup is more. No need to try and look 20 when you're 50.
  • Continue to throw out any skin care products which have an odor or have obviously aged.
