Choose a Backyardigans adventure to theme the birthday party around. Some common adventures include high tea, spy adventure, surf's up and pirate adventure. If possible, buy such party supplies as plates, napkins, cups and table cloths that carry out the theme of the adventure.

Choose food and drinks that your child enjoys and will be fun and nutritious for the kids. This includes juice and milk served in Backyardigan cups, snacks like cheese and crackers, peanut butter and apple slices and sandwiches for lunch. For the birthday cake, have a local bakery make one according to your theme or use a Backyardigans cake pan, such as a Pablo pan that you decorate yourself.

Decorate for the party with Backyardigan balloons, posters or banners, colorful streamers and a pinata made with your child's favorite character from the show. You may also choose decorations fitting the adventure such as ocean-themed decor for a surf's up adventure.
