How to Polish Copper Jewelry

Copper is an amazingly soft and malleable metal that has been used for making jewelry since at least 8700BC. Copper boasts such a unique color, even after it oxidizes when it turns a blue-green color it maintains a unique beauty that cannot be replicated. Polishing copper jewelry will leave your copper jewelry gleaming as though it were new with minimal time and surprisingly little effort.

Things You'll Need

• Lemon juice
• Salt
• Spoon
• Baking soda
• Soft clean dry cloth

Instructions

1. Pour a cup of lemon juice into a bowl or cup.

2. Add a tablespoon of salt to the lemon juice and stir it with a spoon until it dissolves.

3. Drop the jewelry into the bowl or cup and swish it around for several moments.

4. Take the jewelry out of the solution and rinse it off in the sink under running warm water.

5. Rub baking soda over the jewelry to help neutralize the acidity from the lemon juice.

6. Rinse the jewelry to remove the baking soda and dry with a soft clean cloth.

• Vinegar is a comparable substitute for lemon juice.
