Things You'll Need:
- Safety pins
- Belt
-
Step 1
Decide if the boots are the focal point of your outfit or an accessory. For example, turquoise boots grab all of the attention and have to be worn with neutral clothing. On the other hand, black, brown or gray boots function as an accessory and can be worn with many styles and colors.
-
Step 2
Choose a pair of jeans to wear with your boots. Skinny jeans are best because they are already tapered at the bottom. If you don't own skinny jeans, follow steps 3 through 5.
-
Step 3
To taper jeans while wearing them, grasp the hem at the center (in line with your shin) and pull it straight out to form a triangle shape.
-
Step 4
Pinch the two sides of the triangle together at the base to make the hem tight around your ankle.
-
Step 5
Fold the extra fabric over toward the back of your ankle, creating a tapered hem.
-
Step 6
Secure the hem with a safety pin and repeat the process with the other pant leg. Knee high boots will easily fit over your newly tapered jeans.
-
Step 7
Complete your outfit with a top that will complement the style and color of your boots.
