Bread slicers come in many shapes and sizes, and enable the user to easily cut uniform slices out of a loaf of bread. Otto Frederick Rohwedder invented the modern bread slicer in 1912. Industrial slicers are mechanized devices that slice many loaves per hour. However, for home use, the manual bread slicer is often used, and is easy to operate. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Slicing Bread with a Manual Bread Slicer

      Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

      Take a fresh loaf of bread - preferably of the same dimensions of the bread slice cutter so that it fits well between the side walls of the bread slicer. Some bread slicers adjust to the size of the bread loaf. Adjust the slicer to the size of the bread or cut the loaf to fit.

      Place the bread into the slicer ensuring that the fit is snug around the bread loaf.

      Bracing the slicer panel with one hand, slice through each slicing compartment of the bread slicer with a serrated bread knife.

      Continue slicing through each of the compartments until the desired number of slices is achieved.

      Gently remove the sliced bread from the bread slicer and place in a basket or on a plate for table display.
