How to Become an Independent Herbalife Distributor

Herbalife sells weight management products and dietary supplements, among other products. Herbalife does not employ salespeople; it operates exclusively through a network of independent distributors. Being an Herbalife distributor is the same as many other entrepreneurial activities; it is a high-paying, difficult job or a low-paying, easy job. Few people succeed at it, simply because not many people have the self-discipline to do what it takes to succeed as an independent entrepreneur.       Call Herbalife at (866) 866-4744 to request a sponsor (if you already know a Herbalife distributor, move to Step 2). Request a sponsor who lives near you. Record the sponsor's Herbalife Sponsor Number and the first three letters of the sponsor's last name.

      Navigate to the Herbalife Online Distributor Application (see Resources) and enter the sponsor details you recorded in Step 1 above.

      Complete the online form and indicate your assent to the Herbalife Agreement of Distributorship.

      Purchase a Business Pack online that includes sales and instructional materials. You have two choices: the Mini Business Pack for $54.95 and the regular Business Pack for $87.95. Enter your credit card details.

      Complete the online registration process to register as a new Herbalife Distributor. You will receive a Sponsor Number that allows you to order Herbalife products at a 25 percent discount (this discount will increase as you sell more Herbalife products). You also receive full access to the My Herbalife distributor website, which provides you with a wealth of training opportunities and allow you to keep track of your sales and the distributors you sponsor.

      Attend training sessions sponsored by your sponsoring distributor. If your sponsor lives nearby, these meetings may be held in person. Otherwise, use Internet or teleconferencing methods. Take notes and soak up all the information you can get on how to become a successful distributor.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use Herbalife products yourself, and encourage your distributors to use them. What separates network marketing setups like Herbalife and Nuskin from illegal "pyramid" schemes is the fact that people actually buy and use the products instead of simply shuffling money around.

  • Despite the fact that direct personal contact is usually the best way to sell Herbalife products, many distributors quit because they fail to draw a line between their personal and professional lives. Identify a certain number of people in your life who you are not going to try to sell Herbalife products to, or you may find your friends turning the other way when they see you coming.
