Life can be mundane without the pick-me-up interesting people provide by injecting their personalities into your everyday world. The difficulty comes in trying to meet interesting people in the first place, especially if you don't come into contact with that many new people at your job or your school or in your neighborhood. People who share your interests are more likely to become lifelong friends than those who do not.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Venture where your interests lie. Interest is based on personal perception, so the first step in meeting people is to know what interests you. After you have figured that out, go to places where your interests lie. If you like to read books, for instance, you may find interesting people at a library, a book store or in a book club.

  2. Step 2

Meet and greet to increase your chances. Introducing yourself to other people during social events, or even at the grocery store, helps you to open up and expand your potential. Do this on a regular basis and not only will you have a better chance of bumping into someone who strikes your fancy, you also will seem more approachable.

  3. Step 3

Change up your social routine. Instead of going to the same places you normally go, venture outside of your comfort zone to seek new experiences. This often leads to new and exciting relationships with people who are outside your usual realm. Plan to visit a new bar, club, church or other place where people gather and socialize.

  4. Step 4

Log onto your favorite social site. The Internet has its downfalls, but it does provide forums for meeting new people in the comfort of your home. By opening an account on social sites like Facebook or MySpace you can scan other people's profiles and decide if you would like to contact them.

  5. Step 5

Join a club or civic organization. Volunteering isn't just good for the community; it helps you meet people from all walks of life. Joining a club puts you in contact with others who share your interests.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find a new hobby and pursue it. Sometimes, it's simply your own unwillingness to try something new that prevents you from meeting new people.
