Any time you want to change your phone number on your Verizon Wireless cellphone you can do it online or in person at any Verizon Wireless retail location, no application required. You don’t have to have a reason for changing your number; you can change it to avoid unwanted calls by someone you no longer want in your life or just because you want to change it. Your new number is active immediately after confirming your change.

Step 1

Log in to your Verizon Wireless account online. Type your user name and password in the boxes that appear in the drop-down menu when you click “My Account” on the Verizon Wireless homepage.

Step 2

Scroll down to the “Profile” section of your account overview page and click on “Change Phone Number.” From all of the phone lines available on your Verizon Wireless account – if any – click on the number you want to change and click “Next.”

Step 3

Click on the drop-down menu to display a list of area codes and prefixes for your phone. Click on the one you want to have and click “Next.” The last four digits of your new phone number are chosen randomly after you click “Next.”

Step 4

Confirm the change you're making to your Verizon Wireless phone number and submit your request. Your old number is now inactive and can't be retrieved for you.
