Do you want to give a gift to a young girl or boy, but are stuck on what to give? If he/she is a basketball player, this can be an easy process. Here I will offer some options for gift-giving to the young basketball player.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Give a basketball. After all, it's the core of the sport and one can never have too many. Understand if he/she is in need of an indoor ball or an outdoor ball. Be sure to get a women's size ball for girls and consider a smaller ball for kids younger than 9 years old.

  2. Step 2

Buy some basketball shoes. Always a high interest item for young players. This should be reserved for very close friends and relatives, as they will be costly--look to spend about $50 to $150 for good basketball shoes.

  3. Step 3

Give some basketball shorts and jerseys. If you know the gift recipient's favorite team(s), get clothing with the team(s) logo. For some players, looking good is as important as playing well.

  4. Step 4

Give the female player a pre-wrap. This has become the standard method for a girl player to keep her hair out of her face. Choose a color that matches her uniform or pick some fun colors that she can share with her friends.

  5. Step 5

Purchase a basketball hoop. This is reserved for the major present category. You can start at about $100 and go up to the $2,500 range to have one like the pros use.

  6. Step 6

Sign him/her up for a week-long basketball camp--another higher cost gift, but one that will provide excellent training and great experiences.

  7. Step 7

Present some tickets to a major college or professional basketball game. Not only will he/she appreciate the experience, but you can share some time together at the game. A live basketball game is an exciting event filled with great energy.

Tips & Warnings
  • For higher cost items, consider going in with other people to share the cost.
