Things You'll Need:
- time to search online
-
Step 1
With a little time and effort you can buy airline tickets much cheaper than normal. If possible, get a credit card offered by your preferred airline and capitalize on all your purchases by putting them on the card and getting the mileage credit for free flights. If this is not possible, there are other ways to get airline tickets cheaper or discounted.
-
Step 2
The best suggestion is a bi-polar one: purchase your tickets as far away from the date you need them (at least three months), or as close as possible to the date you need them (within 4-5 days).
-
Step 3
There are many online discount travel sites, but I prefer Orbitz. Search to find the absolute best fare possible. Travel between Tuesday and Thursday - look a few days ahead and a few days behind your preferred dates to get the best one. Sometimes one day makes a huge difference in prices. Once you find THE best price, check it against the airline's website to see how good of a deal you have.
-
Step 4
Take your BEST deal to Priceline.com and start your bidding at one half the price of your best deal and work your way up - not to exceed the best price you already have. When on Priceline.com, work your way up in $50 bidding increments until you get what you need, which is hopefully a better deal than your previously best deal:)
