If you have purchased music files from iTunes and tried uploading them to another player other than an iPod, you may not have succeeded. iTunes files are set on an M4P format, which means the files are DRM-protected. In order to upload them to other players or websites, they have to be converted to MP3 format using a media converter program. This simple process removes the protections on legally purchased music files, allowing them to be used anywhere.
