How to Connect a Humminbird Fish Finder
Fishing is not only a fun sport, but it's a way to put dinner on the table as well. Finding the fish though is not always the easiest task--unless you have a fish finder. Using a fish finder is a major time saver as it will put you on the fish immediately by letting you know where they are staying at the moment. Mounting a Humminbird fish finder can be easily done with a few hand tools.

1
Pre-drill the holes to prevent damage to the boat. Mount the Humminbird fish finder in the desired location, using the hardware that came with it. Normally, the installation kit features 4 Phillips head screws.
-
2
Connect the electrical leads from the Humminbird fish finder to the relay box of your boat, connecting the power to a hot wire and the ground to your ground plate. If you have no relay box (such as on a jon boat) the leads from the Humminbird can be connected directly to the battery. Match the negative to negative and the positive to positive.

Mount the Hummingbird transducer to the bottom of the boat. This is normally done at the rear of the boat. Again, use the hardware provided. Put silicone around the transducer to prevent any water from penetrating where the holes were made. Route the cable from the transducer to the input of the Humminbird view screen and screw it into the input jack.

Tips & Warnings
Pre-drilling is a good method to use. By drilling the holes for the view screen and transducer mounts before screwing them in, you can prevent damage to the wood, fiberglass or gel coat.
