Microsoft's Outlook Express email client application is a reduced-feature email program from Microsoft Outlook. Outlook Express was prebundled with Windows installations that supported Internet Explorer versions 4.0 through 6.0, covering Windows 98 through Windows XP. With the deployment of Windows Vista, Microsoft shifted its "thin email client" bundle from Outlook Express to Windows Mail and more recently Windows Live Mail. A common task for legacy users of Outlook Express is converting their email and email contacts to Microsoft Outlook when upgrading to the Microsoft Office application suite.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Microsoft Outlook and select "File ' Import" from the primary application file menu.

  2. Step 2

Select "Import Internet Mail and Addresses" on the next file menu that appears and choose the "Next" menu button.

  3. Step 3

Left-click the "Outlook Express" menu option on the next screen that asks you for the source program to import email.

  4. Step 4

Choose the "Import Mail" check box on the subsequent screen and left-click the "Next" menu button followed by the "Finish" button. Your Outlook express email will now be imported into Microsoft Outlook.
