Decorate a Table for a Buffet

Food is the star attraction at parties and events. Feed guests with ease and efficiency by setting a buffet table and showcasing food dishes on a decorated banquet table adds atmosphere and anticipation. Create a professionally decorated buffet table effortlessly, allowing more time for food preparation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Banquet tables
  • Tablecloths
  • Plastic crates
  • Large vase
  • Tall flowers
  • Tray
  • Battery operated tea lights
  1. Step 1

Decide how many banquet tables are needed. Allow room for centerpiece, plates, silverware and napkins, plus food dishes. Plan the color theme of the party and select linens accordingly.

  2. Step 2
Create a food display with covered crates

Set at least three plastic crates upside down on table in a staggered position. Lay a tablecloth over the crates and table. Extra tablecloth length may be needed when using the crates. Alternately, use a separate tablecloth in the same or contrasting color on top of crates. These disguised crates will hold a food dish or centerpieces with flair.

Create a floral centerpiece with a large glass vase holding tall stemmed flowers like sunflowers, gladiolas or irises for a dramatic effect. Place the vase on the center crate.

  4. Step 4

Carry out a theme of either silver or glass dishes and trays to hold the food. This streamlined design adds elegance to the buffet table. Party stores carry plastic dishes resembling silver or crystal serving pieces.

  5. Step 5

Add mirror tiles between dishes. Place battery-operated tea lights in glass votive holders on mirrors. Surround the tea lights with iridescent glass rocks.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a casual BBQ, cover buffet table in denim material and place food on top of red & black western handkerchiefs.
