When saving an image file, such as an entire CD or DVD, a BIN file is created. These are archive files and are a great way to back up media without having to compress it into a ZIP file. However, some programs will not be able to open a file in BIN format. For this reason, it needs to be changed to another format, such as ISO or MDF. Changing and converting a BIN file takes little time and is not difficult.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Magic ISO Converter
  1. Step 1

Locate your BIN file. Right click on it and select "Rename." Change the extension of the file to the appropriate format, such as MDF or another archive format.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Magic ISO website (see link in Resources). Click "Download." Choose either "Download site 1" or "Download site 2." You will use this program to change your BIN file into other formats, including ISO. Install the program and open it. Go to the top tool bar and click Tools > Convert. Click on the folder icon and browse for your BIN file. Click "Open."

  3. Step 3

Click the down arrow icon and choose which file format you want your BIN file to be converted into. These include ISO, NRG and CUE. Click the green check mark icon that says "Convert." Your BIN file has now been converted successfully.
