      Prepare the Area

      Clear the area where you are experiencing weeds. Try to remove any mulch or decorative rocks away from the weeds. While this isn't absolutely necessary, the more solution you can get to the weed's roots, the better.

      Mix the Weed Killer

      In a large bucket, mix the vinegar and salt. Most of the salt should dissolve. To this non-toxic weed killer, add just a few squirts of dish soap and stir briskly. Carefully pour the weed killer into a sprayer. These sprayers are sold at any home improvement store.

      Spray the Weeds

      Spray the weeds as close to their roots as you can. If you have healthy plants nearby, take care not to get any of the weed killer close to them. The weed killer should take effect over the next 24 hours.

      Prevent New Weeds from Growing

      If you've raked aside existing mulch or lava rock in order to administer the weed killer, consider taking the time to install a weed barrier. A weed barrier will help to prevent future weeds from growing. Top the barrier with a layer of fresh mulch or rock.
