Restore Files from your Recycle Bin
Restore Files from your Recycle Bin
B. Holmes

Computer files can get pretty messy if we don't pay attention to where we are saving our files. Every once in a while a clean up is in order, and some files are deleted, sent to the trash or recycle bin. If you are using Windows, and you discover you've zapped the wrong file, you can restore it easily, providing you haven't emptied the recycle bin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the trash can icon that should be located on your desk top.

  2. Step 2

Arrange the order of the files in the recycle bin, so you can easily find the file you've deleted. To order the files, click on "View" and choose the option you want.

  3. Step 3

Move your cursor over the file you wish to restore. This will tell you where it was initially deleted. Once the file is restored, it will return to that location. If you forgot where it was when you deleted it - you may have a devil of a time finding it when you send it back to your active files.

  4. Step 4

Click on the file you want to restore. On the left side it will show information about the file. If it is an image, it will be displayed.

  5. Step 5

Click on "File" and then "Restore" to restore the file you deleted. It will now be sent back to the file from which it was deleted.

  6. Step 6

Check the original file, to see if the deleted file has been restored.
