Step 1
Before buying a stroller, new or used, test it out. Roll it around to check how stable the wheels are. Push on the frame to see if it collapses. If the seat lays down on the stroller test it to see if it is stable when down with a child in it. Make sure it won't tip over and is well balanced and weight proportioned. If buying a used stroller check with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to see if the product has been recalled for any reason.

Step 2
When using a stroller always buckle the child in. Make sure it is secure. Many times parents will buckle the child in but so loosely that a child can gain a lot of access to other parts of the stroller or even escape.
-
Step 3
Always make sure that the stroller is locked when opened so it does not collapse. Always lock the brakes when the stroller is not mobile. If it has a carrier attachment make sure it locks in place before letting go.
-
Step 4
Never leave a child in a stroller unattended. Some children will tilt the stroller up and walk off.
-
Step 5
Avoid putting diaper bags, shopping bags, purses or any other items on the stroller's handles. This can cause the stroller to become unbalanced, unstable and tip over.
