Things You'll Need:
- quality concrete sealer
- paint roller and extension handle
- pressure washer (if dirty)
-
Step 1
Clean concrete using degreaser on grease and oil stains and a pressure washer. If concrete is clean, just remove any dirt or sand with a blower or thorough sweeping. Block off area to be treated until process is completed, and sealer is dry enough for traffic. See product directions for drying time.
-
Step 2
Choose a quality concrete sealer from a hardware store or home improvement store. Determine the quantity of sealer needed by measuring concrete area to be treated. See product label for coverage per container.
-
Step 3
Allow concrete to dry thoroughly from cleaning, then apply sealer using a thick nap paint roller. Use an extension handle on roller to save your back from bending. An inexpensive extension pole can be bought for a few bucks.
-
Step 4
Keep area blocked until sealer is dry enough to handle traffic. Be aware that really smooth concrete will likely be made even slicker after sealer is applied. You may want to etch concrete or add non-slip material to sealer for safety purposes.
