How to Make Charm Bags
Charm bags often are worn about the neck but can also be carried in a pocket or purse. Often associated with spell work, they are also used and worn as a fashion item or nonreligious good luck item.They are usually filled with small items and trinkets thought to bring luck, love or other good things to the wearer. Charm bags can be any size you like, though they need to be small enough to wear or carry easily. The bags are easy to make and are a good project for those learning to sew.

Cut a 10-by-4-inch piece of fabric. You can use any type of fabric, but if you will be wearing the bag often, use a sturdier fabric such as velvet or canvas.

Fold each short end down 1 inch. Sew across the the bottom of each 1-inch flap to secure it.

Fold the fabric in half so that the 1-inch flaps are touching. You will want the rough edges from the flaps on the outside when folded in half.

Sew each side closed up to the bottom of the 1-inch tubes you sewed first. Do not sew the tubes closed.

Turn the charm bag right side out. Thread a ribbon through the tubes and tie the ends together.

Place your charms inside the bag and pull the ribbon to close it. You can hang the charm bag from a necklace by placing the chain through the ribbon loop.

Decorate the outside of your bag with embroidery, fabric paint or glue-on embellishments.
