The Chi flat iron is about an inch thick, with an ergonomic design for an easy grip. As the name suggests, it's mainly used as a hair straightener, but it can also be used to create flips and curls. The trick is in twisting the flat iron all the way around while clamping down on the strand of hair. If done correctly (and it may take some practice), you'll have a perfect tight curl. The Chi flat iron may eliminate the need for curling irons and hot rollers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comb
  • Hair clips
  • Hairspray
  1. Step 1

Comb your hair to remove tangles. Section your hair using clips to make it easier to curl individual strands.

  2. Step 2

Take an inch-wide strand of hair and place it between the Chi flat iron about an inch or two down from the root of your hair. Press down firmly on the hair with the flat iron.

  3. Step 3

Slowly slide the Chi flat iron down until you reach halfway down the strand. Twist the flat iron upwards and all the way around in a circular motion, wrapping the strand of hair around the flat iron. Do this motion slowly and take care not to burn your fingers.

  4. Step 4

With your strand of hair twisted around the Chi flat iron, slide the iron down to the tips and release. Continue this twisting action until all of your hair has been curled.

  5. Step 5

Use your fingers to comb the curls out. Finish off with a layer of hairspray to hold the style.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your hair is clean and dry before your start to curl your hair with a Chi flat iron.
  • The Chi flat iron can get very hot; use extreme caution when using it.
