Instructions

    • 1

Choose a decorative image that portrays how you feel about the day. You could use a Bible with flowers, a dove over water, a rainbow or a cross with floral decorations. You can use more than one image to create the effect you want.

    • 2

Measure 5 1/2 inches up the length of a piece of card stock. Cut with a paper trimmer or scissors. Fold the card stock in half using a bone folder or craft stick to smooth a crisp edge. You can also use blank invitation cards found in craft stores. A standard card is five and one half inches by four and one quarter inches but you can chose to make any size.

    • 3

Decorate the front of the card with in the images you have chose by using computer generated art, rubber stamps, hand drawn art, dry or heat embossing.

    • 4

Add "You Are Invited" or "Your Presence Is Requested" on the front of the card. You can use stickers for your lettering instead of the stamped images if they blend with the art you have chosen.

    • 5

Hand print or type the invitation wording on your favorite computer program on to scrapbook or vellum paper. You can fill in the wording of your invitation using a calligraphy pen. Be sure to include the date, time and location of your baptism along with your name. For example you could write," Miss Stephanie Randall would be honored if you would be a witness to her baptism at the Free Baptist Church on Sunday, May 24th at 1 p.m."

    • 6

Add the Bible verse you have chosen for your baptismal verse. It can be printed on either side of the interior of the card.

    • 7

Trace completely around one of the open cards on a piece of lightweight cardboard. Add one half inch wide side panels on the top five and one half inches of the envelope. Add a squared top panel for the top flap.

    • 8

Cut out the template and trace around it on plain colored gift wrap, scrapbooking or art paper for the envelopes that you need. Use a bone folder to fold the envelope and flaps. Adhere with a glue stick.
