How to Make Fortune Cookies from Scrapbook Paper
It's time for a different kind of party favor. The occasion--a special birthday, bridal shower, a get-together to welcome a new neighbor--needs something pretty, festive and fun. Especially suitable for a tropical-themed party, these charming favors will bring laughter and compliments and will turn the conversation in unexpected fun ways. Making fortune cookies out of scrapbook paper is a quick, decorative way to make your party sparkle.
Things You'll Need
- Scrapbook paper
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- 1/2-by-4 inch strips of plain or colored paper (copy-paper weight)
- 6-inch strips of ribbon
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut scrapbook paper into 4-inch circles.
-
2
Roll/fold circles in half; do not crease. Anchor loose half-circle edges with a single dot of glue at the center of the curved rims.

3
Cut strips of paper, write fortunes and slip a fortune strip into each half circle. To address the too-pretty-to-open problem, you can hot glue each fortune to a piece of ribbon. Your guest then pulls the ribbon to remove the fortune, keeping the cookie intact.

Roll/fold tips of half circle together; again, do not crease. Secure ends with a drop or two of hot glue. Repeat until all your half circles have been turned into cookies.

Tips & Warnings
Pile fortunes into a basket and let guests take their pick; serve the cookies when you serve dessert. Once your technique is polished, consider attaching lace, rick-rack or other trimmings to your circles to make your fortune cookie into a true memento.
