"If I win the lottery..." "When I win the lottery..."

If that's a thought that swirls inside your head, you're not alone. A good many folks fantasize about how they'd spend a large amount of cash should a financial windfall come their way.

The problem is, to play the lottery you need to spend at least a dollar per ticket. To increase your chances of winning you spend, say, twenty dollars. To increase your chances even more, you shell out thirty dollars. To increase...

You get the picture. You want to save money in your pursuit to win money, not waste it. Right? You want a chance at some hard, cold cash without first making a pit stop at the ATM.

You can.

All you need do is grab the remote, sit back, and click to your local ABC affiliate and watch Pat and Vanna strut their stuff.

Here's what you do:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • TV
  • computer
  • a love of game shows

Watch the show. This is a no-brainer. I suggest watching a telecast or two to get an idea how members of the show's home audience win cash and prizes. You'll learn that to win you need a Spin ID Number. You'll also learn what prizes are available to the home audience. Currently cash in the amounts of $5,000 and $50,000 are available to the public, as well as luxury vacations and new cars.

  2. Step 2

Log onto wheeloffortune.com. Click on join now and fill out some information and your very own Spin ID Number will be sent to your e-mail address. Once you have your number, you are now somewhat good to go. With a Spin ID Number you are eligible to win the $5,000 prizes and the luxury vacations. But what about the $50,000 prize and the new cars? you ask. To have a chance at the bigger prizes requires the following step.

  3. Step 3
    Fantastic Plastic

Return to the show's home page and sign up for a Sony Visa card. Once you do, you need only make a purchase once every sixty days to be eligible for the $50,000 prize as well as the new cars.

  4. Step 4
    It's a numbers game.
    It's a numbers game.

Check your Spin ID Number daily. The show is fun and challenges the mind, but you don't have to actually sit down and watch the show night-after-night to see if you've won. Just go to the show's Web site, log in, and you will see where to click to learn if your Spin ID Number was a winner the previous day.

And it won't cost you the price of a lottery ticket to do so.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you lack self control when it comes to credit cards, don't sign up for the Sony Visa. Be content with the possibility of winning a smaller prize.
  • The Wheel of Fortune Web site goes into much deeper detail regarding eligibility requirements. This article serves only to touch upon these requirements.
  • I have no association whatsoever with Wheel of Fortune. I have never been a contestant nor a member of the studio audience. I am merely sharing with my readers a fun activity I enjoy.
