Ayurveda is a holistic system based on the belief that a person's physical, mental, and spiritual health are connected.Ayurvedic therapy is 5000 years old and originates in India.Licensed professionals such as nutritionists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, that are trained in Ayurveda are called Ayurvedic practitioners.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Finish high-school.If you know since high school that you want to become an Ayurvedic practitioner, take courses in biology, chemistry, anatomy.

  2. Step 2

    If you want to combine Ayurveda with massage therapy, nutrition, or other kind of therapy, you must complete the educational requirements for those specialities in addition to training in Ayurveda.

  3. Step 3

    Search for a college or school that offers training in Ayurveda therapy. Currently there are 10 such schools in the U.S. Before applying, check with the school where you want to go what are the prerequisites that you must complete before applying.

  4. Step 4

    Most programs in Ayurveda take two to five years to complete. Currently, Ayurvedic practitioners are not licensed in the U.S. or Canada, but some schools offer certification. (for example clinical Ayurvedic specialist and Ayurvedic health sciences).

  • most Ayurvedic practitioners are self-employed
  • salary range is between 70.000 and 100.000 and for physicians with Ayurvedic training can be as high as 250.000+.
