How to Unlock a Phone
Do you have ATT and want to switch to Tmobile but don't want to buy a new phone? Or maybe you are traveling to a foreign country and want to stay connected to your friends and family but don't want to pay ridiculous roaming charges and certainly don't want to buy a new phone? Then this article is for you.
Most cell phone companies don't advertise the fact that their phones are compatible with all cell phone carriers. They just put in some special programming that allows it to work with their sim card but that can be reversed.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS WORKS ONLY ON PHONES THAT USE SIM CARDS. In the United States, that is ATT and Tmobile

Call your customer service rep. On a tmobile phone the number is 611

Tell the person on the phone that you want to unlock your phone. If they ask too many questions or say that it can't be done, tell them you are going out of the country and want to use your phone with a foreign sim.

They should give you a code to put into your phone and voila, your phone can work with any SIM card. Test it out with a friends sim card.

Tips & Warnings
This works on any phone except to my knowledge the iphone. Because apple has a contract with ATT they will not agree to unlock it. It can be done because I know loads of people that have done it but you will have to go to someone that know something about software
You can BUY unlocked phones but they usually charge a premium for the phone and it's not worth it in my opinion.
