As a pet owner you are probably familiar with how difficult it can be to remove pet urine and the left over odor from carpet after a potty accident. If you do succeed it can often be temporary and you are left with a strong acrid smell from the chemical cleaning agents used to clean it. Here is a simple cleaning solution you can make at home that will naturally eliminate the evidence of pet urine and odor from your carpet or rugs.

**Note: Always test any treatment in an area that is not easily noticeable to prevent carpet discoloration.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  • 1/4 cup White Vinegar
  • 1 Tsp. Organic or All Natural Dish Soap
  1. Step 1

Begin by blotting up any wet pet urine before applying any water or cleaning solution. Always use a dry clean white cloth or paper towels to blot up to prevent from dying the carpet.

  2. Step 2

In a medium sized bowl or bucket combine 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1 Tsp. organic dish soap and 10 drops of Eucalyptus oil and mix together.

  3. Step 3

Dunk a porous sponge into the natural cleaning mixture and blot it over the pet urine stained area of carpet. Repeating until all the cleaning solution has been applied.

  4. Step 4

Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes, undisturbed.

  5. Step 5

Using a clean slightly dampened white cloth or paper towel blot up your cleaning solution until no discoloration is picked up. You may need to rinse and wring out your cloth or paper towel and repeat.
