How to Delete a Contact Group on a Mac

With the Address Book application, which comes with the latest version of the Mac OS X operating system, users can create contact groups in their address book and then organize their contacts into the categories. If you no longer want a specific group to show up in Address Book, you can delete it, which will remove it from the window but will not delete all of the contacts in the group.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Address Book" icon in the Dock to open the program.

    • 2

Click on the name of the group that you wish to delete from the group list on the left side of the window.

    • 3

Open the "Edit" menu at the top of the screen and select "Delete Group." A pop-up window will open asking you to confirm your decision.

    • 4

Click "Delete" in the confirmation pop-up window to permanently delete the contact group from your Address Book.
