1
Decide on your theme and gather your materials. Be sure that the two-sided page that you purchase is at least two inches larger than your normal book page. For example, if you are doing a 6x8 in book - use a 8x8 inch page; if you are doing an 8x8 book - a 12x12 inch page will work perfectly. Pick out your colors, decorations and photos you wish to use and assemble them all in one place.

Cut your two-sided paper so that it fits the vertical height of your book. If your book is an 8x8 and you are using a 12x12 inch piece of paper, you will cut four inches off one side so that your final piece of paper will be 8x12 inches (with the 12 inches being the horizontal measurement).
Using your ruler, measure the horizontal length of the paper and mark the length of your book. Do this on both the top and bottom of your page. Carefully fold the page at these marks. This will give you a page that will fit your book perfectly and will have one folded vertical side. -

Begin decorating your page. When placing items horizontally across your page, be sure to duplicate the decoration on the flap. You want the design to look as if the flap isn't there so you will need to match the decorations on both the main page and the flap.. Be sure to also decorate, with the same materials and sizes, the inside of the flap. When the flap is open, you want the page to look as if it is complete. The same should be true when the flap is closed.

Add the photos and decorations to your page. Again, you want the look to be complete both when the page is opened or closed. Check where the flap falls on the main page, and be sure to hide the photos behind the flap, so when it's closed they cannot be seen. Also - be sure to utilize the extra space you have on the inside of the flap itself. Remember - you have an extra two to four inches (depending upon your flap size) to add photos or mementos to.

Place your buttons at approximately the middle of the page. Using your needle with coordinating thread, sew the buttons carefully onto the paper, keeping your stitches neat. Once the buttons are attached, place a small amount of glue on the back of the paper over the threads to seal the threads in place. You will also need to do this to the underside of the flap.
