There are many ways to make a shrug, but this is the easiest version--it is made from a recycled button-up sweater. Just a little snipping and seam binding, an elegant faux buttonhole closure, and it's off to the ball for the princess with a nice shrug over her gown.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Lay out the old sweater on a table, arms out and button side up. Use scissors to cut off both arms three inches down from the shoulder seam. Cut the bottom of the sweater off five inches below the armhole. Cut a gentle curve from the seam line to the neckline, snipping away the buttons and leaving raw curved edges that end at the finished neckline.

  2. Step 2

Begin at the neckline and sew glitzy seam binding all the way around the raw edges of the sweater, ending up at the opposite side of the neckline. Finish the raw edges of the sleeves in the same way.

  3. Step 3

Sew the hook and eye closure at the neckline. On one side of the neck opening, centered close to the hook and eye so that the button covers it up, sew on your eye-catching rhinestone button. Go directly to the ball in your elegant new shrug.
