Make a Citrus Wreath

A citrus wreath provides more than an attractive decorator accent. It fills the area with the clean scent of citrus. Choose unripe fruit. You will want firm citrus that won't be overly juicy when it is punctured. Smaller citrus, such as lemons, limes and small oranges, are easier to position on a wreath than larger fruit.

Things You'll Need

  • Leafy stems from a citrus tree
  • Plant clippers
  • 18-inch Box wreath frame
  • Wire
  • Long nail
  • Citrus: lemons, limes or small oranges
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Walnuts
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

  1. How to Make a Citrus Wreath

    • 1

Cut 12-inch lengths of leafy cuttings from a citrus tree, enough to cover the wreath frame. Pick off any defective or unattractive leaves.

    • 2

Fasten a cutting onto the wreath frame, using wire to secure. Continue to add more cuttings, moving in one direction, until it is wrapped around the entire frame.

    • 3

Puncture 1 end of a piece of citrus with a long nail. Insert a long pipe cleaner into the hole. Use the pipe cleaner to fasten the fruit onto the wreath.

    • 4

Arrange the fruit as desired on the wreath, securing each piece with a pipe cleaner.

    • 5

Add walnuts as an accent to the wreath. Affix using the hot glue gun.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before securing the citrus, arrange it on the wreath.
