The Showgirl has many trademarks including fishnet stockings, long eyelashes, glamorous makeup, beaded costumes and the most dramatic of all, their large, fruit-filled showgirl hats. Creating these hats can be tricky, but with a few step by step instructions you can create elaborate Vegas showgirl hats, and blow any audience away with glamour.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small straw basket
  • Hot glue gun
  • Approximately 1 1/2 yard of brightly colored fabric
  • Assorted plastic fruit
  • Assorted fake flowers
  • Sequins
  • Rhinestones
  1. Step 1

Lay protective newspapers or fabric down on the surface of your project table. Wear clothing that you are not afraid to damage with glue.

  2. Step 2

Cut two slits about 5 inches wide, 4 inches apart from each other in the center of your basket.

  3. Step 3

Cut your fabric about 5 inches wide and 40 inches long. Slide the fabric through the slits of your basket.

  4. Step 4

Hot glue the assorted fruit inside the basket on top of the fabric, randomly piling the fruit high. Glue the flowers anywhere you like, including on top of the fruit as well for added height.

  5. Step 5

Glue rhinestones and sequins around your basket, and even onto a few pieces of fruit.

  6. Step 6

Place the hat on your head, and tie the fabric below your chin in a big bow. You are set to wow 'em on stage as a fabulous old time showgirl!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be safe with the glue gun, keeping the nozzle pointed away from your fingers at all times!
