Make a Lavender Citrus Deodorant Spray

I once decided to use one of my room sprays for a quick deodorant after I exercised--and I couldn't believe how good it worked! So it got my wheels turning. I came up with a recipe that's even better--for helping with armpit odor and wetness.

I don't know about you, but I would much rather use something natural than one that is filled with chemicals. Besides, who can resist the clean, fresh scent of natural essential oils? Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 4 oz. glass mister bottle with spray top
  • 1 tbsp. clear grain alcohol like Vodka or Everclear
  • Witch hazel
  • 8 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops each grapefruit essential oil and Bergamot essential oil
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the bottle by sterilizing it or running it through the dishwasher. Make sure it's thoroughly dried before you get started.

    • 2

Add the grain alcohol and essential oils. Cover and let stand for a minute or two.

    • 3

Fill the bottle the rest of the way with witch hazel. Try to find witch hazel that has as little alcohol as possible.

    • 4

Shake well before use. Spray directly on your armpits one or two times after your morning shower or before you get dressed in the morning.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can substitute rosewater for witch hazel if you have sensitive skin. Just add an extra tablespoon of the grain alcohol.

  • You can also use this for a room spray!

  • Don't use this blend if your armpits will be exposed to the sun, as the citrus oils make your skin more sensitive to the sun's rays. Make sure your armpits are covered by clothing.

I just thought of something - don't put this on right after you shave or else it may sting. I bet you could make it as a cream though! I just wrote an article on making ointment - you could do that and stir in the EO's after the beeswax is melted.
