This is so easy, its sickening. This is important: It is not recommended that this is attempted on total strangers. It also might be better if you let your friends relax a little before you trick them. This is key when trying to trick your friends into buying you a free drink.

Finish your bottle of beer, place it on its side on top of the bar. How do you get your free drink? Simple, you turn to your friend and say "I will bet you a drink I can make this bottle stand up again without touching it with any part of my body" Of course this cant be the dude standing next to your ordering his drink and trying not to lean on your back while you are sitting at the bar, but he cant help it because its just crowded. It is very important that this should be your friend. Otherwise, chances are that a total stranger will not be happy when he has to buy you a free drink!

Your friend is going to agree, because he either doesn't think you can do it, or he wants to see you try to do it for entertainment purposes anyway. After all you are at the bar with your friends, so why not pay for a friends drink? He agrees, now you stare at the bottle as if you are attempting to make it levitate for a few minutes until everyone at the bar starts to laugh. Your friend now believes that you will be buying him a free drink. At this point you take out the pen, or the pencil, or even just the pen cap, and you place it inside the bottle and lift up the bottle and set it on the bar (practice this before hand, so you don't break the bottle at the bar and wind up thrown out), and enjoy your free drink from your friend. Maybe consider buying him a drink later? After all free drinks should be shared among friends.
